Maybe you should first know how to play a dvd\video_ts\ with mplayer.
The command is:
mplayer -identify -dvd-device "/my videos/this dvd/" dvd://

As you use \ I presume you are using M$ software, otherwise lsdvd, a
very small script tells you everything you need.
