[MEncoder-users] possible to use -af scaletempo with mencoder?

is it possible to encode video with the scaletempo plugin? I can play
videos at twice the speed with reasonable audio (no chipmunk sounds) using:

mplayer -af scaletempo -speed 2

but
mencoder -af scaletempo -speed 2

just ignores the -af scaletempo option (audio and video are twice the
speed, but higher pitch)
