I had posted a patch about that *long* time ago, which would allow
mencoder to be a bit more flexible and allow short time asynchronity (in
order to deal with plain wrong pts values) - but I've never been able to
finally get my ass up to fix the remaining issues and document the
process better, which was required to get this into SVN.
With a bit of luck I'll might be able to do so on the flight home on
Sunday.
