No, I've read every bit of that, otherwise I wouldn't be able to come to
this forum and use the jargon to misspeak with such alacrity :). I humbly
submit the command line that gives me the error:

mencoder -oac copy -ovc lavc -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd:tsaf:telecine -vf
pp=fd,scale=544:480,expand=720:480 -lavcopts
vcodec=mpeg2video:vrc_buf_size=1835:vrc_maxrate=9800:vbitrate=7600:keyint=15
:trell:mbd=2:aspect=16/9 -noskip -fps 30000/1001 -ofps 24000/1001 -o
/Users/me/clip_out.mpg /Users/me/clip.mpg

With my particular clip, the errors start to appear about 31 percent into
the process. Thanks.
